Want links and backlinks relationships to be created automatically when two cards are connected

Why doesn't any association show up in the card info after two cards are linked?

The linking relationship information only appears after you manually @ the cards.

And what is the point of linking?

Is it just to look good when combing through the cards on the whiteboard?
